FAQ Friday: Mail Merge and Header Images

Swiftpage Support has put together a list of the top Frequently Asked Questions that our staff receives. We plan on posting one FAQ on our blog a week to provide our customers with another resource for their questions. Kassi Johnson, our Customer Service Manager, has put this list together. Her Email address is posted on Kassi Johnson’s about page if you would like to contact her with any further questions.

This week, Kassi chose to answer a couple questions for you:

How do I add mail merge fields to my imported template?

Adding mail merge fields to imported templates works the same way as it does to add them to regular templates, with the exception that the mail merge filelds must be added into the imported template *before* the template is actually imported.

To add a mail merge field to your imported template before you import it, simply put the database field name you wish to merge into your template with double square brackets around it (e.g. [[First Name]]).  Any database field can be used, as long as you put it in double square brackets.  So, for example, a database field called Home Phone would appear in your template as [[Home Phone]]

Can I edit the header image?

A: While header images can’t be edited within Swiftpage’s online editor, we recommend using a graphic design program such as Photoshop or Illustrator to create custom header images to upload to your template.  One freeware solution that can be used online is called Sumo Paint, which can be found at http://www.sumopaint.com.
