FAQ Friday: Can I use a font not listed in the text editor?

Q: Can I use a font not listed in the text editor?

A: The fonts provided in the Swiftpage online editor are the standard and most common fonts that are found on computers. The most common fonts are Arial, Comic Sans, Courier New, Tahoma, Times New Roman and Verdana.   You are not able to use other fonts than these in Swiftpage templates.

The reason for this is as follows: if, for example, you were to use a font called Papyrus in your email template, it may work well on your computer because you have that font.  However, some of your email recipients may not have that font, so what their computer does is look for the closest related font (such as Arial) and substitutes it. Because these two fonts differ in both width and height, your email layout most likely will be changed, resulting in an undesired appearance.

Here is a great article on why you should always use standard fonts on both emails and your website.
