FAQ Friday: How many PDFs can I link to from my email template?

PDFs in Basic Templates

If you are uploading PDFs to your Basic Template using the PDF function, you may have only one PDF uploaded per Swiftwindow. That said, you are able to have up to 23 Swiftwindows in any column. So, with a two-column template, using all 23 Swiftwindows, you could potentially have a total of 46 PDFs uploaded. Why you would need to link to 46 PDFs we have no idea!

PDFs in Advanced Templates

In Advanced Templates, you can link to PDFs stored in the Document Library. You can access the Document Library from anywhere in the Template Editor by clicking the Manage Documents button at the top right of the screen. Once your PDF is in the library, highlight the text or image you want to have linked to the PDF then click on the icon in the toolbar with the PDF symbol. The document library holds up to 100 documents, so in theory you could link to 100 PDFs from any given Advanced Template. But who would read an email with 100 PDF links?

PDFs Hosted Elsewhere

Keep in mind if your PDFs are hosted on your own servers or website, you may link to as many as you’d like since they are just like any other URL! Click here for more information.

Having Trouble Uploading PDFs

If you are unable to upload your PDF you should first check its size. If your PDF is larger than 4MB, there’s the problem. Swiftpage is not able to accept PDFs larger than 4MB.

Creating a PDF

If you are wondering how to make a document into a PDF, check out a free PDF printer such as CutePDF or pay for a service such as Adobe CreatePDF.

Tell us how you use PDFs in your email marketing! Happy Emailing!
