FAQ Friday: What happens to my data if I change the answer type in a survey question?

We know that on occasion you need to change your surveys up. It is important to note that you will lose the previous responses if you change the answer type. For example, you change a YES/NO question to a Short Answer question. BEFORE you change your survey, we suggest that you export the data you have already collected so it can be saved. Another option is to create a NEW survey and copy the questions from your original survey. Make the changes you need on the new survey and link it up. This also keeps the data sets separate.

IF you accidentally change the survey type before you export your results, please email customercare@swiftpage.com to request the information. Please note, while we will do our best, we cannot guarantee that your information will be able to be retrieved fully or at all.
