I recently subscribed to the Blood, Sweat & Cheers newsletter. Within a few minutes of subscribing, I received the email seen below. Normally I skip over the ‘add us to your safe senders list’ spiel. But their wording caught my eye. It reads:
Please add email@example.com to your address book.
If you don’t, we will get stuck in your junk folder and you will play alone in a cocoon of sadness.
While I think the ‘we will get stuck in your junk folder’ is a little strong (and likely inaccurate), I laughed out loud at their description of what would happen if their email does land in junk.
So what’s the lesson? Don’t be afraid to have a little fun with your email campaigns. Adding a little smile or laughter to someone’s day can go a long way in their committment to your brand.
