28 Days of Email Inspiration: Day 17

We love email…and we love sharing our passion with you. During the month of February aka the “month of love”, we will be featuring one email a day with tips, commentary and more from industry experts.

Day 17: redbox Uses Bright Colors to Inspire

Subject Line: This week’s new releases‏
Industry: Retail, Video Rental
Type of Email: Notification

redbox emails are anything but boring. You’ll see a combination of caricatures, movie posters/covers, and ever-changing background colors. How do they make all these bright colors work? Note the use of an overall neutral grey background to contrast the brighter colors. This backdrop allows for use of bright colors without overwhelming the reader. redbox also uses negative white space for the sections of movies to allow the movies to stand out rather than having the covers compete with bright colors.
