28 Days of Email Inspiration: Day 21

We love email…and we love sharing our passion with you. During the month of February aka the “month of love”, we will be featuring one email a day with tips, commentary and more from industry experts.

Day 21: Evo Leverages Current Event Subject Line to Increase Opens

Subject Line: Lance Told Everyone The North Face Wouldn’t Go On Sale… You Know What That Means!
Industry: Online Retail
Type of Email: Sales

28Days_Day21_EVOEvo does an excellent job with their subject line for this email:

Lance Told Everyone The North Face Wouldn’t Go On Sale… You Know What That Means!

Leveraging a current event such as the Lance Armstrong saga compels any reader to open this email. All it takes is a great subject line to open and engage your readers. Evo doesn’t mention Lance Armstrong anywhere else in this email. They simply don’t have to since they achieved their goal of having the reader open the email. Post-open, readers can use the easy call to actions to take one of three main actions.

Have you ever featured a taboo or current event subject line? Tell us about it!
